How To Save On Back-To-School Supplies
If you’res stressed about spending $1,000 per child this year, don’t worry. This back to school shopping “season”, we want to help you save as much money as possible! Keep in mind that sales often come and go but there are always opportunities to save money!
1. Be Cashback Conscious
Whether you are shopping online or in stores, you have all the opportunity to earn cashback. Yet, the majority of people still don’t take advantage of the offers that are available to them! Now I’m not just talking about those cashback credit cards that give you 1-5% cashback on certain categories and only during certain months. I’m referring to utilizing cashback companies that you shop “through” to get bonus cashback, sometimes up to 40% back!
One of the BEST companies I know for getting cashback in store and online is called Ebates. They offer cashback savings to the largest chain stores like Target, Best Buy, Staples, Office Max, etc…. Ebates is also 100% FREE to join and stupid simple to use. If you’re shopping online, just download the toolbar that will alert you anytime savings are available. But what if you’re shopping in store? They have an app for that!
2. Check Your Local Dollar Store
People often forget that dollar stores offer some great discounts on products, especially the basic back to school supplies like glue, pencils, loose leaf paper, tissues and more. You’ll want to start looking here first because during this shopping season, the best back to school deals will sell out quick!
3. Supply Sweep Your Home
Believe it or not, you might already have plenty of school supplies lying around your house. Closets, desk drawers, and basement bins could hold hidden treasures that can save you money. Make sure to make a list of what you find and Once you complete this “supply sweep,” you’ll have a clearer picture of what you actually need to buy. Ideally, the sweep will prevent you from buying something you already have on hand.
4. Just Say No
While I’m sure the kids would love to go back to school shopping with you, try to resist the urge of bringing them along when it’s not necessary. Otherwise, you’re going to end up adding hundreds of dollars onto your final bill; it’s inevitable. Before leaving the house, tell your kids you are sticking to the list that they & you made and will not be getting anything extra. Of course we all know how hard saying “no” can be… But stay strong; Your back to school savings are depending on it!
5. Save Money On College Supplies
If you’re child is heading to college, you are likely to be shocked by the sticker prices for everything you will need to purchase. The cost of college has gone up year after year, and I’m not just talking about the tuition bill. From dorm room essentials, new clothes, a laptop and textbooks, everything has gotten more expensive.
Thankfully, we can help you save money on your back to college shopping too!
